Salaried Enterprise Bargaining continues

The PSA has once again invited the government to reconsider its position in relation to job security and Redeployment, Retraining and Redundancy (RRR) provisions - the key issue for PSA members – at the Salaried Enterprise Bargaining General Meeting held today.

The PSA issued a similar invitation to the government at the previous Salaried Enterprise Bargaining General Meeting held on 29 July 2020.

Job security, including RRR provisions, remain the key issue in negotiations for a new Enterprise Agreement.

At every enterprise bargaining meeting held so far the PSA has rejected the government’s position to remove RRR from the agreement and to slash the associated protections.

In the EB meeting held in February this year, the PSA pressed the government to highlight the areas of Appendix 1 (RRR) that they believe are not working. They were unable to do so, only stating that it is all ‘too hard’. The government has still not been able to demonstrate any areas of Appendix 1 that are not working. Government negotiators today confirmed that movement on RRR remained a high priority for them. However, they still cannot explain why their proposed reductions are such a high priority for them.

PSA Worksite Representatives attending the recent PSA Worksite Representative Forum reaffirmed that the highest priorities for PSA members they represent remain job security and maintaining existing conditions of employment. This feedback is consistent with the feedback received throughout our enterprise bargaining campaign to date, including recent meetings of members and feedback provided directly to the PSA office.

The PSA will continue to negotiate on behalf of members and will continue to pursue those matters that are most important to you.

The next Salaried Enterprise Bargaining General Meeting is scheduled for 9 September 2020.
