Decimation of Research and Collections Management at the SA Museum

Following the announcement of the proposed widespread abolition of multiple positions across Research and Collections Management at the SA Museum, the PSA has contacted HR and CEO Dr David Gaimster to request additional, required information to enable a genuine consultation process.

The South Australian Public Sector Enterprise Agreement: Salaried, 2021 requires that;

Any proposed review or proposed workplace change must include as part of consultation, an assessment of the potential impact on workloads for individual employees or a work group in a workplace and measures proposed to manage such impacts. The intent of managing impacts must be to minimise the risk of unreasonable workloads.”

Additionally, the Enterprise Agreement obliges agencies to ensure that all position descriptions, in an area under consideration for restructure (however described), are up to date and approved. It is the position of the PSA that it is not possible to undertake accurate workload assessments without having first ensured that the duties set out in role descriptions are up to date and correct.

Documents, belatedly provided to the PSA by the SA Museum, do not comply with the standards set out in the Enterprise Agreement. Consequently, we have written to the Museum seeking the provision of adequate information. Read the letter herePSA letter to DPC_240315_SAM_R&C_Restructure.pdf
