EB25 Know your rights re: Snap Rallies
Have you received an email from your employer advising that “the rally is not stop work action”? Or “your absence from duties is not authorised”?
Know Your Rights!
- You are allowed to attend the rally!
- The rally is stop work action!
- You are allowed to engage in industrial action!
- Your employer cannot stop you from leaving your workplace!
- You are allowed to be absent from duties for the period of your lunch break!
The purpose of the rally is to be absent from duties, to be disruptive to the services you provide, and to take action against the Government in the fight for better pay!
Your employer cannot discriminate against you as a result of your participation in industrial action.
However, where you are absent from duties for a period longer than your lunch break, your employer may dock your pay for that period – however they cannot question your participation in industrial action or take any disciplinary action against you.
Should you receive any correspondence from your employer in respect of disciplinary action, please contact the Members’ Rights Hotline on 8205 3227 or via email at hotline@psaofsa.asn.au.
Should you face financial hardship as a result of your participation in the rally, please reach out, and send an email to enquiries@psaofsa.asn.au.
The PSA stand behinds you and supports you every step of the way in the fight for a fair and just pay rise!
We are stronger together and we look forward to a strong turn out of members at the rally!
