International Allied Health Professions Day - Thank you to all of our Allied Health Professional members!

INTERNATIONAL ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONS DAY – 14 OCTOBER 2024

Thank you to all of our Allied Health Professional members!

International Allied Health Professions Day is a worldwide event to celebrate the critical work that Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) do. The theme this year is ‘Stronger together’, highlighting the benefits of multidisciplinary team-based care.

Public Service Association (PSA) AHP members work across the state in all areas of public health, in aged care, child protection, youth justice, corrections, courts, disability and education.

They work in a range of areas including art and music therapy, audiology, counselling, dental therapy, dietetics, family therapy, occupational therapy, management, nuclear medicine, optometry, orthotics and prosthetics, pharmacy, physiotherapy, professional and/or clinical policy and/or governance, genetic counselling, psychology, radiography, speech pathology, social work and sonography.

Our members provide essential services to people of all ages – across all stages of life. They are a critical part of any multidisciplinary team they belong to.

However, as Allied Health Professions Australia notes, it is vital that AHPs are recognised alongside their professional colleagues for their role in designing and implementing comprehensive systems of care that truly wrap around clients. This acknowledgement is even more critical as the PSA engages in negotiations for the next Enterprise Agreement.

Through the work of the PSA AHP Network, the PSA continues to advocate for our AHP Network members to receive:

  • the value and recognition that they deserve, and

  • the supports and structures they need to provide the highest standard of    care and service to the South Australian community.

As the expert AHP voice of the PSA, the PSA AHP Network continues to guide us about the needs of AHPs for the next Agreement.

The PSA thanks all our AHP members across the public sector for the important and complex work they undertake.
