Thankyou to all our social work members

Today (18 March 2025) is World Social Work Day. This important day of recognition is celebrated on the third Tuesday of March each year.

The theme for World Social Work Day 2025 is “Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Wellbeing”. It encourages thought and discussion about how “… intergenerational care and connections are essential to everybody’s wellbeing, and the need for societies to strengthen and more actively support respectful intergenerational solidarity for the enduring wellbeing of all.”

The Public Service Association (PSA) has Social Worker members working across the public sector, in areas such as inpatient health, community health, mental health, child protection, community corrections, prison health, education, courts, human services and many more areas.

Our Social Worker members are highly skilled. They provide essential services to the community, supporting social and emotional wellbeing, and advocating for all people.

On World Social Work Day, and always, we value the critical role Social Workers play in our public sector. The PSA thanks all Social Worker members for their dedication and contribution to our community. We share the values of solidarity, the importance of connecting across all generations, and working towards a society who cares about the wellbeing of all.

Being the only public sector union for Social Workers, the PSA’s focus is on a well resourced public sector that enables our members to meet these values – and provide social work services to the highest standard. The PSA remains committed to advocating in the current Enterprise Agreement negotiations for the priorities of our members, including proposals developed by our Social Work members.

PSA Allied Health Professionals Network

The PSA has established an Allied Health Professionals (AHP) Network to bring AHP members together on issues that you have told us are important to you, including the current Enterprise Agreement negotiations.

The PSA AHP Network facilitates the sharing of information and ideas, and works together to consider options and resolve concerns for AHP members. It encourages further expert AHP input into PSA strategies and activities in the short, medium and long-term.

Have you joined the PSA AHP Network?

Sign up below, and encourage your Social Worker and other AHP colleagues to join. Your participation is integral to building the power of our union so that together we can effectively deal with the issues affecting AHPs.
