WHS union win at Noarlunga Hospital

The Public Service Association (PSA) welcomes the decision to move a fire exit from the back courtyard of Myles Ward at the Noarlunga Hospital to the left side of the courtyard. The relocation will create an unobstructed exit to an open area facing Alexander Kelly Drive.

The PSA Organiser held an online meeting with Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) management on 6 August 2024 to discuss the matter. At the meeting, SALHN advised that, after further inspections, it had agreed to relocate the fire exit by 9 August 2024.

At the same meeting, your union, the PSA, requested the following information:

  •    How will PSA members be notified of the changes, and who will be providing this information?

  •    Is training being provided regarding the new evacuation direction procedures and will more than one session of training be provided to cater for a variety of shifts/working hours?

  •    When will fire exit maps be updated and displayed?

The PSA also asked that a response to the above questions and any new procedures be provided in writing to enable consultation with members.

Congratulations to PSA members at Noarlunga Hospital for raising their health and safety concerns with the PSA.

Speak up! Health and safety concerns are union business

The PSA reminds members to speak up and report any health and safety concerns to your union, especially with three Stage 1 developments underway at SALHN – The Repat, Flinders Medical Centre and Noarlunga Hospital.

Any feedback or concerns about the SALHN developments can be directed to your PSA Organiser.
