World Health Day - Thankyou to our PSA Health members!
World Health Day is celebrated by the World Health Organisation (WHO) annually on 7 April.
This year’s theme is Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures, launches a year-long campaign on maternal and newborn health.
The WHO website states that the campaign will urge governments and the health community to ramp up efforts to end preventable maternal and newborn deaths, and to prioritise women’s longer-term health and well-being.
PSA members working in Public Health across many salaried classifications all play a critical role in maternal and newborn health, whether it be before, during or after birth. We thank them for the incredible work that they undertake.
Campaigns such as this one by the WHO also highlight the need for a well resourced, high standard public sector health system.
One of the main ways this can be achieved is through an Enterprise Agreement that places the SA Government back as an employer of choice, with an Agreement that recruits, retains, values and respects all salaried health workers.
The PSA thanks all our PSA Health members for their important contribution to maternal and newborn health.
